ABOUT VANGUARD BICYCLES [SINGAPORE]
Vanguard is a unit of Singapore-based multidisciplinary company Angelus Novus Studio. Vanguard specialises in the design of unique one-off bicycles, as well as in the customisation and restoration of classic rides and collectors’ pieces. Vanguard bicycles are recognised worldwide for their unique designs and ergonomics.
Vanguard’s approach is based on design authenticity and a hands-on approach to building unique, personalised bicycles. Taking inspiration from art, architecture, music, and the proportions of classic bicycles and motorcycles, each bike is treated as unique kinetic sculpture/architecture with a distinct character and personality. Each one is serialised and named, and captures an essence or soul of the city. Often the designs stem from a feeling, an emotion, or an encounter in the city. Every bike goes through a rigorous design, fabrication, and assembly process to ensure the best quality and finest work possible.
Vanguard bikes are designed in Singapore, and hand-sculpted by Vanguard’s affiliated teams in Singapore and Portland, USA. Vanguard bikes incorporate original vintage parts that are sourced from around the world to accentuate their authentic prét 'a roulér characteristic.
Vanguard has been featured in a number of magazines and publications, and has also participated in a number of exhibitions, including the Venice Biennale of Architecture 2008 (under Angelus Novus Studio).

Vanguard’s original designs
Vanguard designs and builds its own range of brand new bikes using recycled steel. With an attention to detail and a hands-on approach, Vanguard works closely with its local community of fine craftsmen and mechanics, encouraging a sustainable biking solution.
Restoration and customisation
Vanguard specialises in the restoration and customisation of vintage European and Japanese bikes, which have quality and durability that’s built to last a lifetime. Re-use, re-design and re-cycle!
Commissioned projects
Vanguard works on special commissioned projects in which the bike is built according to the user’s riding preferences, geometry, fit, and aesthetic/design preferences. Customised fabrication options are available.
